Casting an Aluminium Router Plane with a Stainless Steel Sole
Просмотров 7 тыс.4 года назад
In this video I cast an aluminium router plane and add a stainless steel sole after a long hiatus. The sand I use is homemade combination of kitty litter and normal sand. I'm not satisfied with using an allen key for the cutter but the rest works perfectly also I'm perfectly aware that I heated the allen key to the blue color but it is not soft by any means. Please like, comment and subscribe.

Making a Hunting Knife From a Circular Saw Blade (Common Tools)
Просмотров 413 тыс.8 лет назад
READ THE DESCRIPTION FOR HARDENING In this video I make a drop point hunter style knife from a circular saw blade which I bought at a scrapyard. As I started working with the steel, I realized it was too hard to shape using files so I had to anneal it, which I did by heating the steel to red heat and dunking it in sand so it would cool slower. To drill the steel I had to use masonry drill bit b...
Making a Dovetail Saw
Просмотров 68 тыс.8 лет назад
In this video I make a dovetail saw from scratch. I used an old cheap saw and filed all the teeth down and made them myself. This is also an entry to Toolmake16: Link to website article: www.womadeod.co.uk/p/blog-page_3.html Launch video for rules: ruclips.net/video/uVqnXJ6lXMQ/видео.html The template for the handle and the teeth can be found here: www.blackburntools.com/index.html At the begin...
Making a Solid Oak Top Wooden Workbench
Просмотров 252 тыс.8 лет назад
In this video I make a wooden workbench using 80mm thick oak boards that I got for free from a relative. They were sitting in a barn and had live edges on both sides so I had to use the chainsaw to straighten both sides of the board. The legs and the frame is made from construction lumber which I had at home that were left from when we were rebuilding the roof of the house. I didn't like the su...
Making a Steel Hooped Wooden Mallet
Просмотров 57 тыс.8 лет назад
In this video I make two steel hooped wooden mallets, one entirely from beech and on the other, the head is made from elm and the handle from ash. In the bigger one after I pressed on the rings, I put 4 screws in every ring and welded them completely so they wouldn't be visible. The elm hammer has a lot of wormholes and imperfections but I think it only adds to the character. If you like the vi...
Making a 30mm Mortice Chisel
Просмотров 36 тыс.8 лет назад
In this video I'm making a 30mm mortise chisel that is made from 10mm 4150 tool steel. I've bought the steel from the steel supply yard and it is oil hardening. I made the chisel because I'm going to build the new workbench made out of wood and needed a good mortise chisel. The workbench is already made but I need get to editing it and in that video you will see the chisel in use. The handle is...
Forging two Stainless Steel Cross Peen Hammers
Просмотров 62 тыс.8 лет назад
In this video I forge two cross peen hammers from stainless steel. One is a small regular cross peen while the other is in warrington style pattern. I've made both handles from ash and I turned them on a lathe. The weight on both of them is probably around 0.5 kg or about 1.1 pounds. These hammers were made before I have made the new forge so you can see the old brake drum forge in the video. I...
Making a Jewelers Anvil and a Coin Ring
Просмотров 177 тыс.8 лет назад
In this video I make a jewelers anvil from a piece of round stock cutoff of mild steel which I found on the scrapyard. It is 26mm thick or roughly one inch. I was inspired once again by Seth Gould and his instagram photo of a small anvil that he has made. To check out his work go to: sethgould Lots of filing and hacksawing once again. To test the anvil, I made a quick ring from a...
Making a blacksmith forge
Просмотров 324 тыс.8 лет назад
In this video I make a blacksmith forge from scratch. I've been forging on a brake drum forge for about two years and one day while I was forging it burned through the brake drum and the coal fell on the floor and made a big mess. Fortunately nobody was hurt. After that I decided to make a new forge and after watching a video by Paul Krzyszkowski: ruclips.net/video/xbJAyeGMAXs/видео.html I had ...
Forging a 2.5kg Racing Style Axe + Handle Making Without a Striker
Просмотров 38 тыс.8 лет назад
In this video I forge a large racing style from a piece of 300x100x10 mm piece of mild steel with an old file forge welded for a cutting edge. The axe head weighs 2.5kg. It is a lot of work to draw the edge of the axe without a striker but I wanted to test the hammer I made in the previous video. This axe is almost entirely made with homemade tools with the exception of an angle grinder and a b...
Making a Fret (Jeweler's) Saw
Просмотров 64 тыс.8 лет назад
In this video I make a fret saw from some scrap steel that I had. For the upper arm I used a combination of forging and filing and the rest was done with welding and filing. Very fun project but involves a lot of ornamental filing and a ton of filing in general. Inspiration for this project was Seth Gould - a blacksmith who does some spectacular work and if you would like to buy one that is eve...
Hallowood 2015 - Forging a 2.5kg ( 5lbs ) Straight Peen Hammer ( without a striker )
Просмотров 5 тыс.8 лет назад
www.womadeod.co.uk/p/blog-page_3.html ruclips.net/video/yRs8rSLb8pA/видео.html In this video I make a roughly 2.3 kg (5 lbs) straight peen hammer from an old sledgehammer I believe that I found on scrapyard. At first I thought that the handle of that sledge was a welded piece of pipe but than I realized that it was just wood which burned away after first heat. I used a drift to open the eye a b...
Forging a 1kg (2.5 lbs) Cross Peen Hammer ( without a striker )
Просмотров 9 тыс.8 лет назад
In this video I make a cross peen hammer from a piece of truck axle. This steel was very tough to forge and with my poor punches and drifts it took a lot of time. I left the part when my drift broke just to show how steel breaks when it's improperly heat treated. For the handle I used a broken off axe handle that I got as a gift. I made it into an octogonal shape which is very comfortable to us...

I've had the chance to use this table a couple of times now. It's fun to whip out in front of people:) I can see what people are talking about when they say the legs are delicate, but they're design to support a "mostly" vertical load, not be torqued from the side or pushed back into place. If you just let the table open or close on it's own and don't force anything, it works great ruclips.net/user/postUgkxyFZUPFEey-PuqsPMxqaykBhgA1LWxFHh Once it's set up, it's pretty solid. My only gripe would probably be related to the clamps provided. They're not the highest quality. They do the job, so no big deal, but they could be better. All in all, pretty cool gadget.
